Adrenalin Quarry
UPIC students take on the UK’s longest and fastest zipline, hitting speeds of up to 40mph!

Our latest social event took us back to Cornwall for an action-packed day at Adrenalin Quarry. This eco-friendly adventure park is home to a variety of rides and outdoor activities.
We set off from campus on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year (so far!), with a coach packed full of UPIC students. Excitement was in the air as we made our way down to the Quarry to take on the first challenge.
First stop: Zipline
Students quickly found themselves clipped into a harness and standing 164 feet above water. Within a few minutes, they were hurtling through the air at full speed. It’s certainly not for the fainthearted… ziplining is like a rollercoaster without the track! This sport is popular on a global scale because people can experience breath-taking views (and a rush of adrenaline!). A great way to build confidence and try something new. As you can imagine, some students were eager to jump… while others felt a little unsure…
After soaring over the lake and catching our breath, it was time to swap the skies for the tarmac.
Next stop: Go Karts
This is the ultimate game of friendly competition. Think Mario Kart! You need speed, skill, and the occasional dramatic overtake. Engines revving, the race was on. Some students zoomed off like pros – leaving a trail of dust behind them! Others took a more scenic route and enjoyed spending time in their new vehicles.
At the end of the race, students collected their lap time sheet and walked away smiling.
Last stop: Photoshoot
We stopped for a quick group photo, complete with windswept hair and snacks-in-face, and piled back onto the coach. Tired? Yes. Happy? 100%.
Where will we go next? It’s up to YOU! Speak to Jake and Anita in the office and keep an eye on your emails for the next student vote.
