VIP City Tour And British Cream Tea
Our new arrivals enjoyed a quintessentially British experience to celebrate their first week on campus.
The College is buzzing with excitement! Enrolment Week for the Jan’26 intake was a success and it represented a milestone for many… the beginning of student life in the UK.
A group of 20+ new students joined us for a VIP tour of Britain’s Ocean City. On Friday 16 January at 2PM, we set off into the bright winter sunshine and crisp January air. The weather itself was an experience..! Especially for those who grew up in a much hotter climate. Everyone was chatting and it was wonderful to hear laughter filling the streets.
We pointed out the local cafés and international food shops as we walked. This is a great way to help students feel more at home in their new surroundings. Dr Dave Jones, Director of Academic and Student Services, shared engaging stories about Plymouth’s rich maritime history. Our walk led us to one of the most iconic beauty spots and popular tourist destinations since the Victorian era: Plymouth Hoe.
We soon arrived at The Dome to enjoy a traditional cream tea together. Plates of warm fruit scones were served with jam, cream, tea and coffee. A debate quickly emerged over whether the jam or the cream should go on first – a classic British question! It was a lovely opportunity to relax after a busy week and take in the gorgeous sea view.
By the end of the afternoon, Plymouth was already beginning to feel more like home. This event marked just the start of a new semester, and we have plenty more FREE activities lined up! Our goal is to support every student in making the most of their university experience.
