Inspired by the Winter Olympics

UPIC students take on a high-adrenaline challenge set by Plymouth Snowsports Centre.

After a cold spell in the UK, we knew it was time for our students to step out of the classroom and take on a high-adrenaline activity.

When we first arrived at the tubing slope, a few unimpressed rumbles rippled through the crowd… “That doesn’t look very exciting.” “Isn’t the slope a bit small?” Those doubts soon vanished the second their inflatable doughnuts picked up speed!

Everyone threw themselves down the hill in a race against gravity. Some were spinning wildly, others launched themselves backwards, and many linked up to form high-speed human chain.

After half as hour of tubing, the groups swapped over to the toboggan run. This quickly became the highlight of the night! Flying down the track one by one, most of our students pushed the limit to see just how fast they could go.

It was incredible to see the social bonding and community spirit as students cheered each other on from the sidelines. Clearly, the ‘no fear’ attitude of this intake is going to make for a very exciting semester!

There were lots of requests to come back to Plymouth Snowsports Centre in the near future. We’re so proud of how our students are diving into life in Plymouth and supporting one another along the way. Keep your eyes peeled for our next update because we have plenty of adventures in the works..!
