Pre-sessional English

Do I need Pre-Sessional English?

We teach in English, so you’ll need to achieve the levels below or study a pre-sessional English course with us to join one of our courses.

The below entry requirements are IELTS. Please note that we also accept Pearson Test of English (Academic) and other equivalent qualifications such as WAEC, HKDSE and SPM.

All of our pre-sessional English programmes will be delivered by the University of Plymouth’s English Language Centre.

English Language Requirements

Foundation

5.5 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band.

First Year

6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band.

Pre-Master

6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band.

If you meet the above entry criteria for your course, then you do not need any pre-sessional English.
