Ready to jump straight into the first year of your tourism & hospitality degree?
We’re here to help you settle into your new home. You will benefit from extra support with study skills, and you will learn how to adapt to the UK educational system. Teaching will take place at the College during your first year, and at the University during your second year.
You will gain the practical skills to either specialise in Events Management or become an effective Tourism and Business Manager with the ability to work worldwide.

Standard Modules – All Pathways
Semester 1
- Business Foundations
The module provides a foundation of business, outlining the different models and approaches that exist, providing a foundation of some of the basic skills required in business.
- Interactive Learning Skills and Communication (ILSC)
This module develops a range of academic and communicative skills necessary for successful study. It provides a range of transferable communicative skills (written and oral) to prepare students for professional life.
- Introduction to Marketing
This module provides a broad overview of marketing theories and models, whilst introducing students to a market orientated approach to the solution of organisational problems.
- Principles of ICT
This module delivers an accurate snapshot of the state of ICT as it exists currently, as well as to equip students with a useful set of skills in the use of common productivity software and Internet based applications.
Semester 2
- Introduction to Food Service Operations
To develop an understanding of Food & Beverage business operations and the operational procedures associated with the management of food and beverage.
- Front Office and Facility Operations
This module introduces important aspects of front office and facility operations within the context of hotels.
- The Tourism Industry
This module reviews some of the factors that influence the development of organisations operating in tourism and to develop an understanding of the structure, operation and organisation of the private sector.
- Principles of Economics (Elective)
This module provides students with a knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and techniques involved in economic analysis at an introductory level.
- Business Accounting (Elective)
This module introduces the measurement, recording and communication of financial information for the purpose of business decision making in the context of risk, sustainability and liquidity.
- Organisational Behaviour and Leadership (Elective)
This module provides a broad based understanding of the contribution that organisational behaviour and analysis can make to the performance of the individual, group and organisation.
